[TV APPERANCE] ▬ I'M GIVING MY OPINION ON HOW SOCIAL MEDIA CAN HELP BOOST TOURISM.
This news clip features the role of social media in boosting the tourism industry in Ilocos Sur. The language used was Ilocano. The interview was done in the PTV office located in the Ilocos Sur provincial capitol.
For non-Ilocano readers, I placed the translation below the video. Watch me from 0:00 to 1:40
Anchor► Bloggers are seen to lead the way in strengthening the tourism industry by using the social media especially in creating blog entries of the different tourist spots. Seane Batin, for the report.
Reporter ► Television, radio and other form of media are commonly used to promote a place in order to strengthen the industry of tourism. But one of the effective ways today to convince tourists to visit a place like the province of Ilocos Sur is through the use of the latest technology like cellphone, computer and ipad to learn about the latest news and updates especially in the tourism sector.
Me ► [Almost] all people now already have a connection online. So social media is a very effective tool to promote tourism in Ilocos Sur. They could also tap bloggers like me [and other bloggers] because bloggers have many followers, you know, they have many readers. If we invite a lot of bloggers and compile all their followers and readers, we can really promote Ilocos Sur.
Reporter ► The social media is more accessible especially to those who are living abroad searching for tourist destinations in the Philippines.
